  Maestro

 Jae Joon Lee

Maestro, Jae-joon Lee obtained his Master of Music from Keimyung University majoring in instrumental music and master's degree in choral conducting at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He also received graduate of a master’s degree of Orchestral and Opera Conducting in Novosibirsk National Music Conservatory, Russia. He has received wide publicity not only by conducting symphony orchestras and opera internationally but also chorus and opera in his home country of Korea.

Maestro Lee has been invited as a guest conductor of many orchestras and opera companies at national level both in Korea and internationally companies since 1988. He has conducted numerous operas including La Boheme, La Traviata, Carmen, Aida and Rigoletto. Moreover, he has also conducted extensive symphonic works by Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Mahler etc.

 In February 2000 when he returned to live in Korea, Maestro Lee founded The Gala Orchestra, which has received high praise from audience and media alike at each of its concerts for the last 10 years. In 2003, he invited as a visiting professor at Cuba National Institute of Arts (ISA de Cuba) and International Music Director of the Cuban National Opera Company, visiting Cuba every January to give lectures and masterclasses on conducting technique and to perform with the orchestra and opera company. In 2005 Maestro Lee received special praise after conducting the Matanza Philharmonic Orchestra with the National Opera Company of Cuba in opera “Carmen”. Also in 2005 he was invited to be International Music Director for the final concert of the 22nd International Theater Festival in Havana, where he conducted Johann Strauss’s "Die Fledermaus.” In 2006 he was invited by the Tongyeong International Music Festival to conduct Mozart’s “Requiem" in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Mozart's Birth. In January 2008, He conducted opera “the Bat” produced by the CCP-UST at CCP Hall in Manila.

In March 2008, He was invited principal guest conductor of Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra (NASO) which is one of major Russian National Orchestra.

In January 2009, He invited as guest conductor for the Asia – premier concert of Jenkins’s requiem with the UST symphony orchestra & UST singers at CCP hall in Manila. He also conducted as guest conductor for concert serious of Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2009 and 2011 season. In February 2012, He conducted opera “La Traviata” at CCP in Manila. Consecutively, In October 2014 & 2015, He conducted Opera “ Rigoletto” & Tosca at CCP in Manila. Since September 2005 Maestro Lee has been the conductor of the Deagu Genius Youth Orchestra (DGYO), one of the highest quality youth orchestras in the world. In February 2008, the DGYO traveled to Spain giving concerts in Madrid, Granada, Valencia and Barcelona and February 2010 and also had a concert tour in the U.S.A.

Currently, Maestro Lee was founded Pilgrim Music Foundation (PMF) in Jeju island. PMF will be parent foundation of Jeju International Genius Music Academy (JIGMA) which is one of best music school for musically gifted student in the world. And also, Maestro Lee is Artistic Director of Novo Philharmonic Orchestra, Artistic Director of Pilgrim Mission Music Center, Yenoeul Music Center, Visiting Professor of Santo Tomas Music Conservatory in Manila, Philippines, and he is Permanent Artistic Director of International Youth Orchestra Study Group (IYOSG) starting July 2011 at Philadelphia, USA.
